On the site of a former restaurant in Platis Gialos, Sifnos, a new complex of three detached homes has been built, each with its own private outdoor space. The building, with a total area of 321.5 sq. m. on a 1,337 sq. m. lot, was redesigned to accommodate three independent short-term rental residences, offering privacy, discretion, and comfort to guests.
The three residences—with floor areas of 71.3 sq. m., 106.2 sq. m., and 75.15 sq. m.—are arranged around bright and functional spaces, featuring two or three bedrooms, open-plan kitchen–living–dining areas, and bathrooms, including ensuite bathrooms.
The materials play a dominant role in the project’s aesthetic: stone, wood, and reed, in earthy tones and textures that evoke the Cycladic landscape. The built-in elements and minimalist lines are combined with contemporary design pieces, creating an environment that honors local architecture without copying it.
In the outdoor space, the goal was the harmonious integration of two different flooring materials, combined with the clear demarcation of the three residences. Asymmetrical stepping stones of Karistos stone, framed by cement screed, serve as natural accents in the landscape and form a path that leads smoothly from the courtyard entrance to the entrance of each residence.
