Cafe-bar Barco

ATHENS

The renovation of this dining space in Porto Rafti unfolded in two phases, beginning with the 195 sq. m. interior and concluding with the 152 sq. m. exterior.
The new design proposal was based on a complete redesign of the space and was supported by extensive market research into building and decorative materials, furniture, decorative elements, and art de la table, as well as supervision of the work and coordination of the crews. The space had not undergone a major renovation since 2000 and was characterized by bold shades of black and gold, lacking a clear design identity or functional cohesion in the furnishings. The result conveyed a sense of design inconsistency and a lack of hospitality.
The approach aimed at a comprehensive renovation of the space, both aesthetically and functionally, in line with contemporary interior design trends, with the goal of creating a welcoming and attractive environment for diverse groups of visitors.
The color palette features earthy tones, while the use of natural materials, such as wood, marble, and natural stone, enhances the warmth and timelessness of the space. Curved forms replace sharp angles, creating a smoother flow and cohesion in the overall composition, while lighting served as a key design tool, playing a decisive role in the final result and in shaping the atmosphere of the space.
A central element of the design is the presence of greenery, both natural and artificial, in both the interior and exterior spaces, enhancing the sense of relaxation and the space’s connection to the natural environment.
